Beside the Wild

The Ritual

An Evening Built Around Fire & Wild

Three elements define every Yala BBQ evening — how it's cooked, where it's set, and how you arrive.

Wood-fire BBQ grill with flames

Wood-Fire BBQ

Ebony and satinwood embers, hand-fanned for hours, char every cut low and slow the way jungle camps have for generations.

Table set for jungle dining under lanterns

Jungle Dining Setup

Lantern-lit tables laid beneath open canopy, walking distance from the park boundary, with the bush audible beyond the fire-light.

Unfiltered Culinary Craft

Rooted in Safari Tradition

For decades, trackers and naturalists shared hearty fire-cooked meals around the dry-zone bush after long game drives. Yala BBQ brings that raw safari spirit to a refined culinary standard.

Every spice blend is toasted daily on hot coals, and all produce is sourced from small-scale farmers in Tissamaharama and Kirinda fishermen.

  • Direct farm-to-fire local sourcing
  • Open canopy seating right on the park buffer zone
  • Private campfire setups available upon request
Seamless Travel

Direct Transfer From Yala Gates

Finished your evening safari at Palatupana or Katagamuwa? Our partner jeep drivers will pick you up directly from the park exit and drop you at Yala BBQ in time for the evening fire lighting.

"The jeep driver picked us up right at Katagamuwa gate. The charcoal prawns and smoked butter were world class. Must visit if you are visiting Yala!"
